The good news is that you can easily find all the drivers for the 1720 on Dell’s website that work with Windows XP, the bad news is (or was for me at least!) that finding the nVidia 256mb 8600 GT driver and the audio Sigmatel driver.

nVidia Driver 

Well your struggle is over, you can head over to Dell’s site and get the nVidia driver (I used http://www.laptopvideo2go.com myself) as they finally got around to providing a driver that works with XP.

Audio Driver:

Here is the audio driver for SIGMATEL STAC 92XX from Dell’s site: audio driver.

I hope your ‘upgrade’ to Windows XP from Windows Vista on your laptop goes as smoothly as mine did (after hunting for the drivers that is).
